Optimus Prime was part of the 1984 Transformers toyline. The Transformers changed the way children would look at toys forever. Prime and his robotic counterparts were known for their two different playmodes. Each toy had both a robot mode, and a vehicle mode. Optimus Prime is the Leader of the Autobots a clan of freedom loving robots who defended their home plant of Cybertron against the villainous Decepticons.
